-----concentered momental experience-----
My work is of a wide variety. However, through my work I do seek to feel other people's feelings and emotion in a particular moment in the past. While my work is about escaping during the art making process, escape has connotations of trying to run away from something. My work is not trying to run away from but more used for myself and for viewers as vehicle to teleport to and from experiences that I have had or other people have had. I am inspired by the unique life that each and every human lives and I find creating work about experiences that other people have had helps me understand a a moment in their life whether it be a pivotal moment or insignificant moment. I explore humility by being in tune with the empathy that I channel while exploring moments of other people's life. I also use reference photos that I have taken of subject matter that depicts moments in my life that I wish to return to. My hope is that by creating this moment artistically, I can live through it again. It gives me the chance to relive it and even strengthen the moment with every decision that I make while bringing it back to life. I hope that the viewers of my work can feel as if they are in the moments that I create and put themselves in the scene that I depict to gain an understanding of someone else's world and life lived.
"Stuck in the 70's"

This oil painting depicts my grandparents when they first started dating. This piece was inspired by the love letters that my grandfather sent my grandmother when he was stationed in the Vietnam where he fought in the war. My grandfather and grandmother had just started dating when my grandfather got drafter into the war. The new lovers would write to each other to stay up to date on each other's livelihood. I wished to recreate this moment in time by trying to capture the era that the photo that I used as a reference for this painting was from, the seventies. The wood paneled walls and pattered couch indicates the era and I tried to accentuate these details in order for viewers to feel this time period and put others in the shoes of the figures in the painting.

This piece depicts a photo of a friend of mine looking over the edge of a cliff. In this work, I wish to bring viewers to this moment. I hope that by doing this I encourage viewers to think about the emotions that she must have been feeling and the thoughts running through her mind at this moment in time.

I created this piece from a reference photo that I took at a restaurant that my family and I travel to by boat on the Fox River near my hometown. The sun was melting into the water and I found the moment to be captivating, finding peace with myself and all that was around me. In the making of this painting, I found myself reliving this this moment as I mixed the colors of the paint to achieve the warm, rich tones. By creating this piece I hope that viewers can put themselves in this moment and feel the serene nature of the scene that it depicts from one of my very own experiences that I wish to share.
